London, August 2002 Fujikura introduces its new range of ultra-high performance couplers

Fujikura Europe Limited, world leading manufacturer of optical components, recently announced its new range of premium fused couplers, which it claims offers one of the best performances in the coupler market.

Its premium WDM couplers, designed for 1550/ 980 EDFA applications, offer one of the lowest excess losses available in a commercial capacity at 0.08dB. Polarisation-dependant loss is also reduced to 0.04dB which compares favourably to the 0.1dB curently offered by competing products.

Fujikura has also released premium tap couplers using the same technology providing a typical excess loss of 0.05dB (compared to 0.1dB offered by competitors).

Component size issues have also been addressed, with dimensions of 3x50mm for the tap couplers, and a length of 55mm for the WDM.
