Fujikura offers customisable gain blocks

Fujikura Europe Limited, a world leader in fibre optic technology, has released the latest development of its active gain block.

By neatly packaging an efficient erbium-doped fibre, pump/signal WDM and isolators together with a pumping laser diode, Fujikura has cut the size of the complete module to 100mm x 70mm. These dimensions include tap couplers and power-monitoring pumping diodes, which are included as standard. As well as the 8-channel standard version, Fujikura offers modules built to its customers specification. Despite its high gain (18dB minimum), it retains a low gain flatness (1.2dB in the 8-channel version). The single-channel model has an even higher gain at 25dB, making it ideal for use in metro systems.
