Flexible Printed Circuits (FPC’s) with their ultra-thin construction, unique flexibility and compact 3D designs can provide cost effective solutions to complex circuit packaging problems found in today’s constant drive for miniaturization.
Fujikura is able to offer single-sided, single-sided double-access, double-sided and multi-layered circuits with component assembly from our production facilities in Japan, Thailand and China. |

| Single-Sided Circuits |
Our single sided FPC’s have circuits etched into copper bonded to one side of a polyimide base material. Coverlay material, usually polyimide, is applied to the circuit pattern to protect it from damage. Parts of the circuit are left exposed to facilitate component placement or contact plating.

Single-Sided Double-Access Circuits
Single sided circuits can have areas of the base material cut away to expose the copper circuit layer. Having connection points on both sides of the FPC (double access) allows greater flexibility for component placement and design.

| Double-Sided Circuits |
Our double sided FPC’s have circuits etched on both sides of the polyimide base material. Electrical connection between the circuit layers is achieved by means of plated through holes. Again coverlay material, usually polyimide, is applied to the circuit patterns to protect them from damage. Parts of the circuits are left exposed to facilitate component placement or contact plating.

| Multi-layer Circuits |
Fujikura’s multilayer circuits are built from single-sided or double-sided FPC bonded together. Electrical connections between the FPC circuit layers are achieved by means of plated through holes. In this way greater circuit density can be achieved for a given area compared to single or double-sided FPC.

Employing Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Fujikura can populate FPCs with a wide range of components such as integrated circuits, resistors or capacitors. Functionality, reliability and thermal management can all be improved utilising assembled FPC. |
