The move comes in response to increasing demand for hire services in the industry, particularly from small to medium sized contractors looking to expand into the field. As world leaders in fibre optic fusion splicing technology, Fujikura Europe will be offering hire terms on its full range of splicers including the new high speed FSM-40S that was launched in January 2000 and offers a total splice time of just 15 seconds. The compact, lightweight instrument, which is equally suited for field or factory use, feature's Fujikura's own Profile Alignment System to combine unprecedented speed with exceptional accuracy. Other splicers for hire include the world renowned FSM-30S, offering a typical splice time of 30 seconds and the FSM-16S with clad to clad alignment, launched in April 1999 and offering a typical splice time of 25 seconds. Specialist ribbon fibre splicers are particularly in high demand at the moment, due to new practices brought in by multi-nationals from areas where ribbon is favoured. Fujikura pioneered ribbon splicing technology, and its range of ribbon splicing equipment for hire is second to none. Also available for hire is the E6000B Agilent Mini OTDR, which offers fast and highly accurate real time measurement on SM and MM fibres, and the world-best selling CT-07 high precision fibre optic cleaver. A full range of accessories including light sources and power meters, battery packs and tool kits are also available for hire. "There's plenty of work out there" says Hire Manager, Neil Bessant, "but many small companies such as electrical contractors are being discouraged from entering the market because of the high start up costs. The capital investment on equipment required can be daunting, especially if you're unsure of your company's commitment to the market. That's why hiring is the perfect solution. What's more, you don't have to settle for second hand or second rate equipment. Your engineers can use the very latest and best equipment in the industry and do a better job as a result." All instruments can be hired on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and there is also a 'hire to buy' option. |
