Fujikura's polarisation maintaining gain blocks allows interleaving of 200+ channels

Fujikura Europe Limited, acknowledged world leaders in fibre optic technology, has used its extensive experience with PANDA fibre to produce Polarisation Maintaining Gain Blocks.

Aimed at the next generation of DWDM long haul systems, these single channel devices are used prior to the AWG and PM interleaver to boost signal power at the transmitter side of polarisation multiplexed DWDM transmission systems.

The Gain Blocks utilise Fujikura's passive optical component technology to achieve a wide wavelength range (1530-1563nm), with a low noise figure (<-5.5dB 980 pumped, <7.5 1480 pumped) and a low polarisation crosstalk (<-25dB). Both 980nm and 1480nm pumped versions are commercially available.
