"This is the most important fibre optic product that we offer our customers," commented Robert Walker, Business Development Manager. "Not only does it offer a superior image quality, but it also has a variety of applications in the medical and industrial sectors."
The Image Fibre can be supplied with a silicone resin, epoxy resin, or Polyimide coating. All three coatings offer the fibre high mechanical durability against handling and repeated bending (within the minimum bending radius limitations). The Polyimide coating also offers high resistance to chemicals and heat (up to 300 degrees), and can be used in medical endoscopes where sterilisation is required by use of an autoclave. Fujikura Europe’s Ultra Thin Image Fibre opens up a new vista of the potential imaging solutions in sectors such as industrial endoscopy, bio-molecular research, spectroscopy, and industrial fibre scopes and bore scopes, where the demand to increase viewing access continues to grow.
In the field of bio-molecular research, the Image Fibre is used in fluorescent and reflectance imaging, which sets the foundations for new possibilities from the next generation of products in this industry. "Over the past 10 years the demand for image fibre has grown significantly and so too has the demand from our customers for this particular product,” said Robert Walker. “The Ultra Thin Image Fibre has become a clear market leader in the European medical industry with 90% of manufacturers choosing Fujikura." |
