PON Transceivers
Fujikura manufacture optical transceivers for Passive optical networking applications.
We manufacture the Optical Line Terminals (OLT), which are utilsed in the head office equipment, as well as the Optical Network Units that live in the customer's premises. Fujikura/OKI have developed all of the key technology in house, including our proprietary burst mode technology.
Their key applications are as follows:
ITU-T G.983.1 applications (ATM-PON)
- Up stream wavelength: 1.55um (OLT transmitter wavelength)
- Down stream wavelength: 1.31um (ONU transmitter wavelength)
- Bit rate: 150M(up)/150M(down) Symmetric
- 150M(up)/600M(down) Asymmetric
- 600M(up)/600M(down) Symmetric
- Transmission distance: up to 20km
- Loss Budget: 20dB (called Class-A)
- 25dB (called Class-B)
- 30dB (called Class-C)

- Up stream wavelength: 1.49um (OLT transmitter wavelength)
- Down stream wavelength: 1.31um (ONU transmitter wavelength)
- Bit rate: 150M(up)/150M(down) Symmetric
- 150M(up)/600M(down) Asymmetric
- 600M(up)/600M(down) Symmetric
- Transmission distance: up to 20km
- Loss Budget: 20dB (called Class-A)
- 25dB (called Class-B)
- 30dB (called Class-C)
IEEE applications (Ethernet-PON)
- Up stream wavelength: 1.49 and 1.55um (OLT transmitter wavelength)
- Down stream wavelength: 1.31um (ONU transmitter wavelength)
- Bit rate: 1.25G(up)/1.25G(down)
- Transmission distance: 10km and 20km
- Loss Budget: 20dB (called Type-A)
- 25dB (called Type-B)
