Overview

Our mechanical splice system provides an inexpensive and quick alternative for mating fibres.

Using V-groove and index matching material technology, this splice maintains both the refractive index and physical contact between the fibres. An assembly tool is used to ensure the fibres are mated correctly. The Fujikura mechanical splice secures both fibre and coating independently with the U-shaped sleeve, enhancing the strength against fibre twist.

In its delivery of quick and reliable connections, our mechanical splice system has a maximum insertion loss of less than 0.5dB (average <0.1dB) and return losses greater than 40dB.

Also known as the Universal Mechanical Splice, the mechanical splice can be used for both SI (stepped index) and GI (graded index) fibre with either 250μm or *900μm coatings. Only the FMSEZ-025/09 system can be used for 900μm diameter fibre.

  • FMSEZ-025 (for termination of 250μm fibre)
  • FMSEZ-025/09 (for termination of 250μm and 900μm fibre - the 'Universal Mechanical Splice'.
