  • Trigger operated
  • Three detecting function
  • Detection of multiple signals
  • 2.4” colour LCD touch display

Overview

The FID-30R is the successor to the FID-25R and boasts increased functionality thanks to the inclusion of an optical power meter. As part of Fujikura’s family of fibre identifiers, the FID-30R is used for identifying the light power presence in optical fibres, include three detecting functions: TONE, TRAFFIC, and ONU.

Operation is via a trigger clamp which macro-bends the fibre in order to leak light, which is then detected by two photo sensors. The FID-30R can detect the presence of several kinds of light signal and indicate signal directions.

The trigger lock function ensures the fibre is clamped with constant pressure, while the 2.4" colour LCD touch panel, equipped with a backlight function, allows the user to view the estimated optical power in the fibre and select the desired wavelength of 1310nm, 1490nm, or 1550nm. Identification of modulated tones at 270Hz, 1kHz and 2kHz is provided, along with continuous wave and ONU signals. Users are also able to select from three detection sensitivity modes: normal, fast and fine.

Other features of the battery-operated FID-30R include robust body design, easy-to-use fibre clamp, status indicator and adjustable settings for result retaining, buzzer volume, backlight brightness, auto dimming and auto power off.

This fibre identifiers can be used for UV-coated fibre, 0.9mm diameter tight buffered fibre, fibre cord up to 3mm in diameter, and fibre ribbon with up to 12 fibres, making it a versatile accessory for any user.

Features

High sensitivity

The FID-30R series is equipped with world-class signal detection sensitivity and it can detect optical power on not only standard fibre but also bend-insensitive fibre and ITU-T G.657 fibres.

Functional and ergonomic design

This is power meter that prioritises ergonomics with its design, as is evident in its physical form, which provides an easy-to-grip and handle. The shape and design means that the operator can easily maintain proper pressure for bending the fibre being tested. The long, slim head makes it possible to access narrow spaces with the FID-30R and the location of the LCD monitor is in an easy to read position for observing results.

Universal plunger head

The universal head of the FID-30R eliminates the need to change an adapter head for jacketed, coated, or fibre ribbon, making it versatile in the field.

LCD touch screen with backlight

The FID-30R series LCD touch screen with back-light makes operation outdoors during the day or night simple, since the on-screen information can be clearly read regardless of lighting conditions.

Trigger lock function

The trigger lock function eliminates the need to continually apply pressure to the trigger when testing a fibre. This prevents the operator from breaking the fibre, and frees them to perform other tasks while measuring, if needed.

Foreign light detection

When the 30R series detects a foreign light source, the FID monitor external light alarm actives and shows both arrows (left and right) simultaneously, which reduces operator error when attempting to detect the traffic or tone signals.

Easy maintenance

When head replacement is required, removing the old one and installing a new part can be done without the need for any tools.

Power meter

The FID-30R is also equipped with a power meter. The connector head is interchangeable for use with SC / FC / ST / LC types.

ONU detection

The ONU signal can be detected without disconnecting the fibre. Operator can verify correct fibre without visiting customer premises. Note: Not all ONUs can be detected. If there is an ONU that is not detected, it may be possible to detect the ONU by analyzing and optimizing the waveform of the ONU.
