  • Active Blade Management Technology - automatic blade rotation via Bluetooth splicer connectivity
  • Applicable for up to 12-fibre cleaving
  • Blade life up to 60,000 cleaves
  • User replaceable fibre clamps and cleaving blade

Overview

The CT50 optical fibre cleaver is an improved and complete cleaving product that delivers a marked step up in operability and maintainability compared to any other cleaver of its kind on the market today.

Thanks to enhanced drop and impact resistance compared to existing cleavers, the CT50 is as robust as it is functionally exceptional. It delivers speed, precision, and ease of use for customer like never before thanks to its clever design, which allows users to replace the cleaver blade, resulting in a reduction in handling time and maintenance costs.

The CT50 can cleave single fibres and bundles of up to 12 fibres and because it is Bluetooth enabled, can easily be integrated into existing splicing process for customers looking to invest in a future-proof cleaving solution. Thanks to the CT50s ability to wirelessly connect to Fujikura fusion splicers, the CT50 is able to change the position of the cleaving blade automatically and in response to the cleave quality of the optical fibres as seen and communicated by the fusion splicer. The fusion splicer will then rotate the blade once it deems the quality is poor. In addition, the CT50 completes cleaving of the fibre and scrap collection in the same step.

Features

Active Blade Management Technology

Automatic blade rotation - The fusion splicer and CT50 fiber cleaver have wireless data connectivity. This capability allows automatic cleaver blade rotation when the splicer judges the blade is worn.

Blade life management - The fusion splicer indicates the remaining blade life and also informs the user when a blade height change is required.

User friendly design and operation

Easy maintenance - The CT50 fibre cleaver has a user replaceable blade and rubber clamps, so there’s no need to send the device to Fujikura’s service centre for blade or clamp replacement.

Easy access & longer stripped fibres - The CT50 lid opens 100 degrees to offer easy access and easy fibre placement, and can accommodate longer stripped fibres than previous models.

Single action operation - The CT50 cleaves and collects the fibre scrap with a single press action.

Notes

1 When the cleave length is less than 10mm, the coating diameter should be 250µm or less. Also, a blade height adjustment is required before cleaving. The average cleave angle is worse than the specification when the cleave length is less than 10mm.

2 Measured with an interferometer at room temperature, not with a splicer. A new blade was used to cleave both the single fibres and ribbon fibres. The average cleave angle changes depending on the environmental conditions, blade conditions, operating method, and cleanliness.

3 The blade life changes depending on the environmental conditions, operating method, and the fibre type cleaved.

4 Measured in a condition when closing the lever.
